Quick, what was Ohio's first capital city? If you said Chillicothe, go to the head of the class.
Founded in 1796 and home to the Ohio Constitutional Convention in 1802, Chillicothe is a modern reflection of its historical roots. Named Ohio Magazine's choice for "Best Hometown" in 2008, the community today takes pride in its past while celebrating its present, offering numerous historical and recreational opportunities for everyone. Big employers include Glatfelter (paper), Adena Health System, the VA Medical Center and Kenworth Truck Co. The city also serves as world headquarters for Petland, Kitchen Collection and InfoSight. Five state parks within a half-hour drive, biking and hiking paths, and one of the leading outdoor dramas in the United States -- "Tecumseh" -- make Chillicothe worth a visit.
